Introduction
St. Luke’s is a “program-size” parish with many dimensions.
Everyone who is a member of the parish is a minister – a disciple
of Jesus Christ. Virtually everything we do in, through and
beyond our community of faith is to be an extension of Christ’s
ministry. The clergy and staff are to serve the parish in the
fulfillment of this ministry. The Vestry also plays a key role
in providing support and leadership. This is a flexible and
working document to describe the organization and support of
our multi-faceted ministry.
(Make-up of the organizations)Worship Council
The worship council meets four times a year to coordinate and
evaluate the liturgies for each season of the year. Members
include the clergy and organist and the leaders from the altar
guild, layreaders, acolytes, ushers, and choir. There are
also representatives from each of the weekly liturgies.
Spiritual Growth Council
The Spiritual Growth Council promotes ongoing and short-term
opportunities for spiritual growth and development through
small groups, retreats, conferences, Confirmation classes
and special events. Such opportunities are made available
to the community at large as well as the parish. These
include Cursillo, Happenings, Marriage Encounter, Covenant
Groups, Rector’s and ECW Retreats, Bible studies, etc.
Members include representatives of the various activities
involved with spiritual growth.

Membership Team
Everyone is welcomed to worship, participate and become a
part of St. Luke’s. The Membership Committee seeks to
ensure that people feel welcomed and are also informed
about the parish and integrated into our community of faith
in a meaningful way. The committee consists of leaders from
three components of the Membership Team: Greeters,
Visitation Teams and New Member Facilitators.
Building and Grounds Committee
St. Luke’s buildings and grounds need constant attention to
keep them at their very best in support of the many ministries
that use them. The Building and Grounds Committee is
responsible, along with the Rector, for the operations,
security and maintenance of the church property. Members
are also responsible for the planning and implementation
of long-term capital improvement projects. The Saint
Francis Guild is responsible for the courtyard. Members
of the committee are enlisted according to their experience
and skills in working with the facilities and grounds.
Outreach Ministries Council
St. Luke’s helps to fund and is involved in outreach
ministries internationally and nationally as well as in
the diocese and Bartlesville. The Outreach Committee
seeks to identify and address concerns including basic
human needs, issues of justice and evangelism. Thus members
are involved in research, funding and enlistment of
volunteers. The committee consists of representatives
of the Vestry, ECW, the Bookstore Manager, and persons
who are actively involved in outreach ministries. |
Parish Fellowship Committee
The Fellowship Committee helps in planning parish-wide
events and special occasions. Special care is provided
for the inclusion of new members, children and older members.
Such events may include St. Luke’s Day, The Seder Supper
and Bishop receptions. Special planning groups are usually
formed for particular occasions.
Stewardship Committee
The stewardship of time, talent and money is the heart of
our relationship with God and the Christian life. The
Stewardship Committee is to challenge and nurture the parish
in each of these areas. A major responsibility is planning
and promoting the annual pledge campaign.

Inreach Ministries Council
There are many opportunities and needs within the parish
where members can invest their gifts, abilities and time
in ministry. This council works to enlist members for the
mutual support and encouragement of the parish as a whole. |
