Church School
Children (Preschool – 5th grade) learn through an
experiential and hands-on Biblical curriculum which has good content and
encourages personal involvement.
Youth classes (6th – 12th grades) are extensions
of Young Disciples focusing on the study of scripture, learning about
the liturgy and faith applications to everyday life. (See
Young Disciples section)
Sunday Discipleship Forum
Adults have two or three class options on Sunday mornings from which to
choose. These range from Bible studies to particular subject areas to
small groups. The classes change at least once each semester.

Education for Ministry (EFM)
Designed by the University of the South at Sewanee, EFM is a four-year
course that combines historical and Biblical studies with reflection
techniques that allows one to apply Biblical themes to everyday life.
This is done in a small group setting with trained "mentors" and special
study materials. EFM is suitable for those who desire a more in depth
understanding of the Bible and are willing to meet and study weekly.
Cursillo
Cursillo Weekends are special spiritual retreats usually held about
twice a year at St. Crispin’s Conference Center. The word "Cursillo"
literally means a short course. Thus, Cursillo is a short course in the
Christian faith and is open to persons who have been Christians all
their lives and those who are new to the faith. Participation requires a
sponsor and approval by the Rector. When you believe it is "God’s time"
for you to attend, contact one of the clergy or the church office. |
Spiritual Retreats
In addition to Cursillo, other opportunities for spiritual retreats are
offered at St. Luke’s. The ECW sponsors two women’s retreats each year.
Periodically the Rector provides retreats geared for ten to twelve
participants. The retreats vary in content and location.
Spiritual Directions Groups – Clergy
There are two Spiritual Direction Groups which meet every other Tuesday
– one at 9:30 a.m. and the other at 7:00 p.m. The purpose is nurture
and encourage spiritual growth through daily spiritual disciplines,
discussion of spiritual classics, sharing personal experiences and
accountability.
Men’s Fellowship – Steve Forsythe
Every Thursday morning at 6:45 a group of men meet in the Chapel for
Morning Prayer. This is followed by a continental breakfast and
conversation in Metcalf Hall. The topics of conversation range from
trivia to current issues to personal concerns. The group closes with
prayer about 7:45. All men are welcome. |
